Learning the Disciplines Through Linguistic Feedback: Contribution to the Development of a Discipline-Specific, Formative Evaluation of Students’ Assignments

Students write to learn. Besides, enculturation the disciplinary discourse happens during writing. Feedback on assignments from students scaffolds students’ writing development and learning paths. However, knowledge about relationship between language, including argumentation in discipline, one hand, content of other, is needed. This article based a socio-cultural approach disciplines, theory feedback, focuses meso-level texts (sentences, clauses, word choice) discipline. We discuss how insight into may be used improve develop feedback formative evaluation. Cases an intervention project Danish upper secondary school are included, indicate that teachers assign lower priority meso-level. claims providing strengthens processes.
